Hari Acharya is a senior researcher at Soch Nepal. He obtained his MPhil degree in sociology from Tribhuvan University and has since used this knowledge to inform and advance his research in the fields of development, social justice, and social movements. He was dedicated to his studies and was involved in several social initiatives. His passion for researching solutions to problems in Nepalese society has enabled him to contribute significantly towards socio-economic development of the nation. Acharya’s commitment to build a more equitable society has been his primary driver throughout his career, as evidenced by his current research position. He continues to use his knowledge and skillset to tackle social injustice through various avenues of research. He has conducted numerous studies related to health disparities among marginalized communities, women’s access to resources and decision-making power in their communities, and the impact of labor migration on Nepali households. His research findings have contributed significantly to our understanding of how unequal gender relations affect poverty reduction efforts in Nepal. In addition, he also engages with public advocacy efforts for better legal protection for migrant workers and providing educational opportunities for the marginalized
